New Walk

Today we walked a new route around Anslow. Instead of starting at the Church we took the car and parked on Beam Hill Road outside the nursery (quiet on a Sunday). We then enjoyed a circular walk which included passing by the hospital in Burton and then up Lower Outwoods passed  some new houses eventually to enter the new National Forest plantings and taking a different route past a smashing pond to return to the car. Over the next few weeks we will write this route up and add it to the site. Good walking despite the mud!!1

OS Maps are Live

All the walks now have Ordnance Survey maps alongside them. The walks are marked in purple. We hope that this is helpful but still recommend that you purchase the ordnance Survey Map of the National Forest as this has all our walks plus many other lovely walks in both Staffordshire and Leicestershire.

ALL New Stiles – 27/09/2020

ALL New Stiles – 27/09/2020

All the stiles on footpaths 2,3,4,and 5 have been either repaired or replaced recently. This was a Parish council initiative supported by the local landowners. The paths can be muddy in places and whilst we are sure that in a wet winter there will still be some problems, the Parish council and the landowners have made extensive efforts to improve the paths and reduce the worst of the mud. Other local improvements include lower stiles on footpath 9, thanks to the local landowner, and a kissing gate replacing a stile on footpath18

ADDING ORDNANCE SURVEY MAPPING – 09/11/20

ADDING ORDNANCE SURVEY MAPPING – 09/11/20

We are in the process of adding Ordnance Survey Maps to all our walks. Over the next few weeks we hope to have them all done. We are much encouraged by the number of visitors to the site and hope that you are enjoying the walks. As we move into winter some of the footpaths are getting muddy but the improvements made by the Parish Council in Rolleston have reduced the muddy areas, especially around the stiles. We are still very much learning how to operate a web site and hope that you will bear with us as we try to improve. Enjoy your walks and stay safe.
